3) Role
The Head of Logistics will be responsible for overseeing all logistics and supply chain operations,
ensuring efficiency, compliance with local regulations, and continuous improvement. As a key
member of the leadership team, the candidate will be instrumental in developing strategies to
expand our business, optimize service offerings, and drive operational excellence. In summary, lead
our operations, ensuring smooth execution of services while driving growth and business
development.
4) Key Responsibilities
Logistics Management :
- Lead the end-to-end logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation and distribution.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods across international borders.
- Manage relationships with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers.
Business Development :
- Identify and develop new business opportunities to expand the company’s logistics footprint.
- Collaborate with the sales team to create tailored logistics solutions for clients.
- Develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the logistics ecosystem.
Compliance and Regulatory Affairs :
- Ensure that all logistics activities comply with Dutch, EU, and international laws and regulations.
- Stay updated on local laws and trade agreements that impact logistics operations.
- Lead audits and risk management initiatives to maintain regulatory compliance.
Team Leadership :
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing logistics team.
- Establish KPIs to measure team performance, driving continuous improvement.
- Foster a culture of operational excellence and innovation.
Strategic Planning and Growth :
- Develop and implement long-term logistics strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives.
- Explore technology-driven innovations to enhance operational efficiency.
- Manage budgets, forecast demand, and optimize resource allocation.
5) Key Performance Metrics (KPIs)
1) Operational Efficiency :
- On-time delivery rate (OTD): Ensuring a high percentage of shipments are delivered within the expected timeframe.
- Reduction in logistics lead times and process bottlenecks.
- Warehouse and fleet utilization rates: Efficient use of available resources.
2) Cost Management :
- Logistics cost as a percentage of total revenue: Measure and control logistics costs while maintaining service quality.
- Transportation and warehousing cost savings: Identify and implement cost reduction strategies.
- Budget variance: Adherence to logistics budget and minimizing variances.
3) Customer Satisfaction and Service Quality :
- Customer satisfaction score (CSAT) or Net Promoter Score (NPS): Gauging client satisfaction with logistics services.
- Order accuracy and fulfillment rates: Ensuring minimal errors in deliveries.
- Issue resolution time: Speed of handling customer complaints or logistics-related issues.
4) Compliance and Risk Management :
- Compliance rate with local, EU, and international logistics laws.
- Number of incidents or breaches related to customs, safety, or legal standards.
- Timeliness of compliance audit results and corrective actions taken.
5) Business Development and Growth :
- Revenue growth from new logistics accounts and service expansions.
- Number of new strategic partnerships or client acquisitions.
- Contribution to company profitability through new business streams and optimized operations.
6)Team Performance and Development :
- Team productivity and goal achievement against set KPIs.
- Employee retention and satisfaction within the logistics department.
- Training and development hours completed per employee.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or transportation, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Deep understanding of Dutch and EU logistics laws, trade regulations, and business practices.
- Proven experience in business development and expanding logistics services.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent knowledge of logistics technology and supply chain optimization tools.
- Fluent in English and Dutch (preferred).
